Description

Hi Fin Cobalt Discus Fish, this was my Mac’s trademark discus fish. I bred thousands of this strain and sold to wholesale and retail pet stores throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada in the late 80’s. This beautiful sky blue discus fish shows off a sail fin dorsal which is spectacular. The back streamer is typical for the male while the females back dorsal is rounded. It is very easy to tell males from female with this strain. I have witnessed on many pairs that once the female starts a spawning cycle she will not go into a rest period for 18 month. Today the Hi Fin Cobalt Discus Fish is still sought after for its sail fin dorsal and vibrant sky blue body. While the female hold on to their horizontal stripe the male fill in to a 90% solid colored body. The H.F. Cobalt discus is a hearty strain and males can grow up to 9 inches, showing off a thick cichlid forehead and round body. This discus fish is a great addition to your collection.

Discus fish are native to the slow and warm tropical waters of the Amazon River. They eat a variety of fresh water shrimp, worms, insects, and aquatic vegetation. In the wild, discus fish colors are limited to a few varieties which are earth tone in color. This helps to protect them from predators by allowing them to blend into their natural habitat. Through selective cross breeding, tank raised discus fish are now available to the hobbyist in a wide range of vivid colors, like the Hi Fin Cobalt Discus Fish.

    Excellent fish.

A return customer. All 6 are doing great. One took about 3 days to recover from wanting to lay flat in the same tank as the other 5 high fin Cobalts. Now at more than a month, they continue to be avid feeder, and I only feed Tetrabits to them. Eating ravenously like angelfish. Should be breeding size by fall. Can't wait to get at a breeding pair from them this fall requested 3 Males and 3 Females and labeled such when they arrived.

    Macs Fish

I have never ordered fish via mail before, and I was nervous. Chose Macs because he's the closest to me, as well as his and my water being near identical. He was communicative, worked with me on shipping times and both fish arrived healthy and happy. I am excited to be growing them out and I would order from Macs again. Thank you!

Beautiful discus. Been ordering from Macs Discus for about 8 years. They are always beautiful and healthy. I just order 5 about 2 weeks ago, they are beautiful and eating and swimming around like they were hatch here. Steve is the best if you want beautiful healthy Discus then Macs Discus is the place to go.

Receive alive, eating by end of day, still doing well. Some tattered fins. Can't wait to see what he/she looks like when mature. Seems small for 3"

Very nice Discus, nice red eyes, and healthy appetite. Started trying to establish pecking order before I could even get them out of the bucket. They love frozen bloodworms. Two of the six so far will also eat flake but not all of them yet. Nice fish!
