Description
The Alenquer discus is named after the region of the Amazon River where it originates from. Although in the wild it is more brown than red and has very noticeable vertical stress bars, Alenquer discus sold for aquariums have been bred to reduce the stress bar visibility, enhance the vivid tan coloring, and produce spots. When juveniles, the Alenquer discus is a shiny, brownish-bronze color with dark vertical stress bars, light spotting, and an opaque tail fin. As the fish matures, its body becomes more reddish in color and the bars lighten. The spotting also becomes more pronounced, and white spotting and striations on the pectoral and dorsal fins become more vivid. Some Alenquer discus have a dark bar on their faces, but not all discus of this variety exhibit this trait.
The Alenquer discus has a round, flat body. Its pectoral and dorsal fins extend almost all the way back to its tail fin, adding to its round look. When full grown, the Alenquer discus will be approximately 8” long, and it is almost that tall. This large, round fish makes a great addition to a freshwater, tropical aquarium. Discus are popular because of their large size, round, pleasing shape, and their interesting personalities. Because of the cultivation in breeding aimed at enhancing the color and patterns of the fish, this Alenquer discus is a real beauty that will stand out in your aquarium.

Awesome Customer Service
I ordered 2 of these Discus and I can say they are a little skittish at first, but after a couple of days they eat well with my 3 3.5 inch Discus. I order 5 Discus with 2 of them being the Alenquer. Steve answered all the questions I had about the adding the 2.25 inch with my 3.5 inch Discus. Everything is well and once I get a bigger tank, definitely will be ordering some more!

Discus at 2.5"
Received order as promised and on tme and both Discus looked healty and ready for acklimation. This is my first tme buying a 2.5" and it was smaller than expected and I was concerned how well they would handle themselfs again 6 Discus much larger than these two. I am to say they're in excellent condition and took no billying at all. Both eat and got their share of food and are showing some coloring which leads to believe both will turn out to be outstanding. i would certainly recommend Macs Discus, Steve is there to help and answer all your questions.

Cute little fish!
I am so pleased with the quality of all my new fish. This one is tiny and still has it's juvenile coloring, no red yet but I look forward to the transformation.
