Description
The blue diamond discus is one of the most highly sought after discus fish for tropical aquarium due to its beautiful color and luster. The beautiful blue diamond discus is a cultivated discus that results from a recessive trait of the blue variety of turquoise discus. Whereas blue turquoise discus normally have striations throughout their bodies, those showing the recessive trait have transparent bodies without any markings. These turquoise discus with the recessive trait have been specially bred together to produce the blue diamond discus.
The blue diamond discus has a solid blue hue over a pale body without any markings, and it has a noticeably shiny luster, hence the name “diamond.” Some blue diamond discus will have yellow coloring on their tail fins. The blue diamond discus also has unusual red eyes. Like all discus, it has a noticeably round shape, and its body is flat. The blue diamond’s fins are slightly thinner than most varieties of discus fish, but it still has the rounded shape that discus are known for. A mature blue diamond discus will be about 8” long, and it is almost as tall as it is long.
Although in turquoise discus the lack of markings is recessive, when two blue diamond discus are bred, all of the fry will be blue diamonds. Cultivated discus are much easier to breed than natural discus, and with the proper water conditions, you could soon see your mature blue diamonds pairing off and mating. A family of these blue beauties will be a treat to enjoy in any aquarium.

After 20 years in the hobby, I took the plunge into the discus world. I wanted my first order to be perfect and decided to give Mac's a go. I was not disappointed!!! I ordered a total of 6 different discus and they are all absolutely beautiful,healthy, colorful and have a big appetite. Nice blue
I liked it; out of the 5 I purchased, it was the blue one that I worried about the most, because it took a while for it to recover from the overnight trip in the mail. But today it's up and health as all the rest.

Nice Fish
My order arrived safe and sound.Fish appeared to be healthy. After ten days one of them had Dropsy and did not survive. Of the five fish I ordered, one should expect not all will survive. I still recommend Mac's Discus, for things happen. Terry

Very happy, beautiful!
I was afraid to buy on-line, but after emailing Steve a couple times i took the plung and purchased 6 fish (3 pairs of 3 different strains). Let me tell you I could not be happier! The Saphire Blue almost "glow" like Neons. What beautiful fish! All were very active once in the tank (follow the directions, you wont have an issue) and were eating right off the bat! Steve has a customer for life!
