Description
The red spotted diamond discus has been specially cultivated to display multiple markings, including the spots and striations of some of the most popular cultivated discus, and the vertical bars seen in natural discus. The resulting fish is a unique blend of color and patterns. The red spotted diamond discus has a tan to gold colored body. The center of its flat, rounded body is covered in red spots and it has several dark colored vertical bars extending from about mid-body to its tail fin. Above and below the spotted center are red striations, and both the dorsal and pectoral fins are covered with striations as well. The face of the red spotted diamond discus has white striations covering it. The tail fin is a light, opaque color that is free of markings. This unusually patterned discus fish will grow to about 8” at maturity.
As with all discus, the red spotted discus has a pleasantly round shape that is a result of its body being almost the same measurements in height and length, and because of its fins that cover almost its entire body. The red spotted diamond discus is a stand out among discus with its unique blend of natural and cultivated discus markings. This beautiful show fish will be a stand out in your freshwater aquarium, due to both its size and its vivid color. As part of a school, the red spotted diamond discus will captivate attention because of its beauty and its charming, peaceful personality.
