This discus fish was tank raised so the strain became more colorful with each generation over the wild RSG. I believe that nature would not allow such colorful fish in the wild as they would be too flashy and therefore fish bait for larger predators. In captivity we can select for more color and fancy design and continue to breed these until the strain becomes fixed. In the Red Spotted Green F-2 Discus Fish the colors are more vivid, blues bluer and reds redder, this discus fish does not have as much of the earth tone golden color which the wild RSG has. This discus fish’s diet should include frozen bloodworms and krill to maintain maximum color, and can reach an adult size of 7 inches.
